North West spent the holiday weekend performing at the Hollywood Bowl. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 10-year-old daughter joined the cast of Disney’s The Lion King live 30th-anniversary celebration on Friday and Saturday night, playing a young Simba.

North, who rapped a verse on Ye’s latest album and voiced a character in Paw Patrol, was cast in the Lion King event earlier this month. She sang “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” for the special, which is available to stream on Disney+ (and not to be confused with another recent nepo-baby Lion King casting).

North got a standing ovation and simultaneously kicked off the latest round of debate about nepo babies, with people on X and TikTok musing about how many children with musical-theater experience auditioned for the role and didn’t get it. Although the rest of the cast wore elaborate costumes by costume designer Marina Toybina, North wore her own more Ye-inspired outfit: a baggy yellow zip-up with a furry hood and fuzzy yellow slippers, per PeopleNorth and Jennifer Hudson — who opened the show singing “Circle of Life” and closed it out with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” — were billed as “special guest stars.” According to the Daily Mail, both North’s parents, as well as Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, and Travis Barker, were cheering her on in the audience.

Kim proudly posted backstage snaps of her daughter to her Instagram Stories. North looked like she had a great time, smiling big and posing with various co-stars. Whether people like it or not, we haven’t heard the last from Miss Westie: In March, she announced that her debut album, Elementary School Dropout, is in the works.
