Summer Streets Returns With 400 Car‑Free Blocks and Vibrant Programming

New York City’s Summer Streets is back for 2025, transforming over 400 blocks into car‑free playgrounds on five select Saturdays from 7 AM to 3 PM. Celebrating the city’s 400th anniversary, the event invites New Yorkers and visitors alike to walk, bike, run, and join in free fitness classes, live entertainment, interactive art displays, and more.

This year’s Summer Streets spans all five boroughs:

July 26: Vernon Boulevard in Queens and Forest Avenue in Staten Island
August 2, 9 & 16: Routes through Manhattan
August 23: Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn and Grand Concourse in the Bronx

Each event will feature a rich tapestry of cultural programming—from popup yoga and dance performances to free music and family-friendly activities—all set within a traffic-free environment that fosters community connection and active living.

Local and national sponsors, including Coca‑Cola, Remitly, siggi’s, and Stonyfield Organic, will support the events with hydration stations, wellness booths, and giveaways. The NYC DOT Art program will anchor rest-stop zones with inflatable sculptures from Mookntaka’s Friends and Follies and interactive NYC Art Stop Letters designed by Yuke Li and Tou Yia Xiong, bringing a burst of color and creativity to the car‑free corridors.
