Park Ridge Police: Armed robbery at 7-Eleven, aggravated battery to peace officer, car stolen



The following items were taken from Park Ridge Police Department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Armed robbery

An unknown male offender wearing a black mask and clothing brandished a firearm and demanded money from the register of the 7-Eleven at 814 Higgins Rd. After receiving the money, the offender fled eastbound through the parking lot towards Higgins Road on April 5 at approximately 12:31 a.m.

Motor vehicle theft

An unknown offender stole a Jeep Cherokee while it was parked on the street in the 200 block of Cuttriss sometime between 4 p.m. on April 6 and 8:50 a.m. on April 7. Police said shattered glass was found on the street, presumably from the Jeep’s window. The Jeep was recovered in Cicero on April 8 at 6 p.m.

Arson

A bystander reported a portable toilet and its wooden enclosure were engulfed in flames near Southwest Park on April 10 at 8:19 p.m. at 1600 S. Lincoln Ave. The damage was caused by an unknown offender, according to police.

Criminal damage to property

An unknown offender appeared to have set off fireworks in the portable toilet at Brickton Park at 801 W. Glenlake Ave. sometime between 7 a.m. on April 4 and 1:07 p.m. on April 5.

An unknown offender drove through the southwest soccer field of Woodland Park at 1200 N. Western Ave., damaging the turf, sometime between 1:30 p.m. on April 4 and 1:30 p.m. on April 5.

Criminal trespass/damage to motor vehicle 

An unknown offender ransacked a 2023 Subaru while it was parked on the street in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue during the overnight hours of April 9. Police said the steering column appeared to be tampered with and the victim was unsure whether they had locked their vehicle.

Theft under $500

An unknown offender removed the keys from the Walgreens cosmetic display at 800 Devon Ave. on April 7 at approximately 8:22 a.m. Police said the key allows access to all locked display cases. The offender fled the store westbound on Devon Avenue.

Retail theft

An unknown man entered the 7-Eleven at 814 Higgins R. and took food without paying on April 11 at 5:30 p.m. The offender fled the store in a gold-colored Toyota van.

Aggravated battery to peace officer

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested on two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and attempting to disarm the peace officer at 200 S. Vine Ave. on April 12 at 3:13 p.m.

Violating an order of protection

A 36-year-old Bartlett man was arrested for violating an order of protection at 6960 W. Oakton St. in Niles on April 11 at 2:45 p.m.

A 18-year-old Niles woman was arrested for violating an order of protection at 200 S. Vine Ave. on April 14 at 10:30 p.m.

Disorderly conduct

A 41-year-old Park Ridge man was arrested for disorderly conduct at 200 S. Vine Ave. on April 10 at 10 a.m.

Suspended/No Driver’s license

A 37-year-old Glenview man was arrested for driving without a license, operating an uninsured vehicle and changing lanes without a signal at the intersection of Oakton Street and Lincoln Avenue on April 10 at 7:40 a.m.

A 32-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving on a suspended license and having expired license plates at the intersection of Oakton Street and Prospect Avenue on April 11 at 7:11 a.m.

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving without a driver’s license and having expired license plates at the intersection of Oakton Street and Western Avenue on April 11 at 12:04 p.m.

A 19-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving without a driver’s license and using an electronic communication device while driving at the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Busse Highway on April 12 at 7:25 p.m.

A 28-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested for driving without a license and having a defective front plate at the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Talcott Road on April 13 at 8:15 a.m.

A 25-year-old Indianapolis man was arrested for driving on a suspended license at the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Merrill Street in Park Ridge on April 13 at 11:02 a.m.

Underage drinking

Two Park Ridge 18-year-old women were charged with municipal code violations for the underage consumption of alcohol at the intersection of Western Avenue and Peterson Avenue on April 14 at 3:30 p.m.
