The James Beard Foundation has announced this year’s finalists for its Restaurant and Chef Awards, as well as its Leadership Award winners, Lifetime Achievement Award winners, and Humanitarian of the Year Award honorees. While New York was shut out of the Best New Restaurant Category this year, Melba’s , Fariyal Abdullahi, and Erik Ramirez are among the nominees. Notably, Mel the Bakery, which moved upstate from the Lower East Side to Hudson last year, was also nominated for Outstanding Bakery.
