Miley Cyrus is going Mariah Carey mode. Remember Mimi’s Cribs episode where she got on a VersaClimber in four-inch heels and made working out seem kind of chic and glamorous? Well, now it’s Miley’s turn to do the same. The singer is on the cover of W magazine this month and revealed that she trains just like an elite athlete would (if said elite athlete competed in stilettos and vintage Bob Mackie).
“My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform.’ So that’s why I practice in my heels,” Cyrus told the magazine. She added that wearing heels in the gym brings some feminine energy to a typically aggro space. “The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn Monroe. I train in heels, mostly. I’m interested in feminizing the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly.”
Aesthete alert! This could be a great business opportunity for Cyrus: “Sharks, imagine a gym that wasn’t so fugly. The women are in heels, the barbell is sparkly, and it doesn’t smell like years’ worth of sweat and cheap disinfectant.” Barbara Corcoran and Mark Cuban would be stepping all over each other for 45 percent!
Joking aside, Cyrus’s commitment to training is very impressive. It reminds me of this video, in which she sings “Rebel Girl” in a full voice while running on the treadmill.

If her not-ugly gym doesn’t work out as a venture, Cyrus could definitely run a bootcamp for pop stars. Or maybe a program for the girls who want to slay during the apocalypse? It seems like it would be the same regimen either way.
