Paris Hilton Has One Word for Critics of Her Parenting

Paris Hilton is usually too busy “sliving” her best life — or vacationing in the middle of raging wildfires — to take parenting advice from strangers on the internet. But after a video of the heiress’ 16-month-old son Phoenix went viral for all the wrong reasons, the mother of two issued the closest thing to an apology that we’ll probably ever get from anyone of Hilton descent: “Oops!”

Over Memorial Day Weekend, the 43-year-old shared a TikTok video of herself holding her son in the pool and captioned the clip, “Adventures with Baby P.” Though I don’t speak toddler, Baby P looks pretty content splish-splashing in Mommy’s arms. Regardless, one commenter pointed out that Phoenix’s life jacket might’ve been on backwards, writing, “Hey momma just a tip from another puddle jumper mom, I think it’s on backwards. But I love this video, pure joy.” In a stunning example of how to give constructive criticism, the fan was able to get Hilton’s attention, who responded on Monday to acknowledge her public parenting fail.

“Oops! Thank you!” Hilton wrote. “I never let him out of my arms. Thought it was backwards too, I said that to the person who I bought it from & they said it was on right. But thank you so much for letting me know.”

HR leaders everywhere, I recommend teaching the Case of the Backwards Life Jacket to your future protegés because this is how to effectively dole out feedback. We’ll ignore the part where Hilton deflects blame, but hey, at least she’s listening to the “puddle jumper mom[s].” As she’s said before, the socialite loves being in her “mom era” — apparently with motherhood pointers from strangers and all.
