It’s hot monkey summer, at least at the box office. Despite having incredible stunts, bells, and whistles, Fall Guy failed to beat Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as the fourth installment of the reboot film franchise is estimated to earn about $52-55 million during its opening weekend, according to Deadline. People are loving the monkeys! It will likely match the last ape movie, War for the Planet of the Apes, which made $56.3 million on its opening weekend in 2017. Kingdom takes place about 300 years after the events of the last movie, following an ape named Noa and a human named Mae as they embark on a journey that affects the “future for apes and humans alike.” Hopefully they packed enough bananas.
