Aurora area residents will head to the polls Tuesday to vote in a variety of races in the primary election.
Voters will cast ballots in several county, state and Congressional races, as well as vote on some referendum questions on Tuesday.
Polls throughout the state will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The primary election sets the stage for the general election, which will take place on Nov. 5.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin announced in a press release Sunday that his office will once again activate its Election Day Hotline on Tuesday, and deploy investigators and work with local police department personnel to respond to reports of any suspected irregularities that may arise at DuPage polling locations on Election Day.
From 6 a.m., when the polls open, through close at 7 p.m., the DuPage Election Day Hotline at 630-407-8118 will be manned by assistant state’s attorneys, according to the release. In addition, investigators as well as local police officers will be available to respond to suspected violations of the Illinois Election Code in DuPage County, the release stated.
“Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our democracy, and my office is well prepared to ensure that anyone who wishes to exercise their right to vote is allowed to do so free from harassment or intimidation,” Berlin said in the release.
Kane County officials said that voters should call the Kane County State’s Attorney’s complaint hotline at 630-208-5328 or the Kane County Sheriff’s Office at 630-232-6840 is they encounter any election irregularities in the county on Tuesday.
