Discounted Centennial Beach memberships now on sale
Memberships for Centennial Beach will be sold at discounted preseason rates through May 27.
Members receive benefits that include early entry on weekdays, 10% off at the Centennial Grill and coupons for other park district amenities, Naperville Park District officials said in a news release.
A variety of memberships are available, including for children, adults, seniors or families. The “plus friends” option can be bought through May 27 and allows for up to two additional guests to accompany a family or individual, park district officials said.
The beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave., opens Saturday, May 25.
Memberships are available to Naperville residents and nonresidents and can be bought at www.napervilleparks.org/beachmemberships.
Memberships will be sold at the regular season rate after May 27.
LWV holding U.S. House Dist. 11 candidate forum
A virtual forum for the Democratic candidates seeking the 11th District U.S. House seat will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, by the League of Women Voters of Naperville and surrounding communities.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, and his March 19 primary challenger Qasim Rashid, a human rights lawyer from Naperville, have confirmed they will attend, a news release said.
The forum will be run by trained, nonpartisan moderators and equal time will be given for each candidate’s answers to questions. Each also will give two-minute opening and closing statements.

DuPage receives grant for green analysis, upgrades
The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded DuPage County a grant of nearly $450,000 for clean energy and energy efficient programs, county officials announced.
Funded through the federal $20.5 million Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, the funding will be used to make green upgrades to the county’s government campus in Wheaton, including two electric vehicle charging ports to accommodate four cars outside the 505 Judicial Office facility.
It will also pay for more solar panels on the roof of the 421 Administration Building and LED light upgrades campus wide as well as for a workforce analysis to identify supply and demand for clean energy-related jobs and to provide clean energy-related job training based on the analysis’ findings, officials said.
