Say Hello to Tom Holland’s Little Bangs

On Thursday, Tom Holland and Francesca Amewudah-Rivers performed for the first time as Romeo and Juliet at the opening night of Jamie Lloyd’s highly anticipated Shakespeare production at the Duke of York’s Theatre. Zendaya and her gothic Vivienne Westwood dress were there to support, which included snapping some proud photos amid the hordes of fans waiting for the couple outside.

Also celebrating a major debut: Tom’s edgy new haircut, a severe shorn look with tiny bangs that has drastically shifted the tectonic plates of this man’s face.

Historically, this haircut, which is known as a Caesar, has some sexy juju — British Vogue pointed out that George Clooney styled his treasured locks the same way during his E.R. days. In 2024, it is giving Holland, who until now had a corn-fed, wholesome appeal, more of a Berlin club-rat vibe. (Which, who knows, you might find just as sexy as ’90s-era Clooney.) He seems to have gotten the cut for the play, which has been described as “gritty” and apparently involves a lot of trance and techno music. But offstage, Holland appears to be leaning into his hair’s new personality — he emerged from the theater Thursday night in an all-black minimalist Prada fit, and was seen the next morning in an unusually scummy-looking pair of jeans.

Spider-Man, where art thou?
