SWAT team called to South Shore after woman shot

A woman was shot in the South Shore neighborhood Sunday evening while standing outside, police said.

Authorities said the woman, 26, was shot in the shoulder by an unidentified offender on the 7700 Block of S. South Shore Dr around 11:59 p.m. She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and is in fair condition, police said.

The offender is thought to have fled to a residence on the same block, and a SWAT team was called to the scene. As of around 6 a.m. Monday, the situation was still active, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

A police spokesperson said authorities were still waiting for further updates around 9 a.m.
