A very noncorporate project floated in Queens where Amazon wanted ‘HQ2’

A coalition of Long Island City, Queens, neighbors, artists and others — organized under a community land trust — have proposed converting a mostly empty Department of Education building into the Queensborough People’s Space, which would serve community needs and be shared by a number of individuals and small businesses — and kept out of the hands of for-profit developers. Jenny Dubnau, activist with the Western Queens Community Land Trust, stands in front of the building they are looking to transform.
