It’s furry-o-sa, not Furiosa, who’s taking over the box office after a tension and carbs-filled race last week. Memorial Day weekend saw a reboot (Garfield) and a prequel (Furiosa) tied up for first place with lower-than-expected earnings, and the following weekend isn’t helping out much. According to Deadline’s Saturday morning reports, Garfield is slightly ahead of Furiosa, with the cat earning an estimated $13 million and the sands earning an estimated $11.5 million. Monday will be feeling not so terrible now, kitty? However, both movies still make the same amount when looking at the full box office total: about $50 million each. The Mad Max saga still has a hold on IMAX, while Garfield has the kiddos and the Italian dishes. Mamma mia!
