14-year-old boy critically injured Thursday night in shooting on West Side

A 14-year-old boy was critically wounded overnight when a gunman opened fire striking him in the stomach in the North Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, the boy was on the a sidewalk in the 1500 block of South Kolin Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire in the boy’s direction, police said.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
