Kelly Clarkson and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock will no longer be getting on each other’s cases … at least not in court, anyway. Per People and Rolling Stone, the pair have settled their lawsuits against each other and thus avoided a trial. Clarkson has previously alleged that Blackstock was working as an unlicensed talent agent when he was her manager from 2007 to 2020, meaning that he was paying himself for illegally getting her gigs (which he denied). A California labor commissioner ruled last November that Clarkson should be paid $2.6 million in her ex’s commissions from four deals, including her judging job on The Voice. Clarkson filed another suit this March to argue that she is owed more than that; Blackstock responded by arguing that the November ruling should be “binding.” The former couple’s legal dispute was scheduled for a public bench trial in late August. Instead, Clarkson and Blackstone — who share two children together — have reportedly each requested a dismissal of all pending complaints. No settlement details have been publicly shared, so we don’t know if Clarkson got what she wanted. Either way, the show The Kelly Clarkson Show must go on.
