Breathing in Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Corset Was ‘an Art Form’

If there’s one thing you can count on Kim Kardashian for, it’s going to extreme lengths to contort her body into an outfit. Two years after gushing about the crash diet that let her fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress on the red carpet, Kim appeared in a new Vogue video to discuss just how uncomfortable it was to vacuum-pack her lungs into a John Galliano dress for this year’s Met Gala.

Kim, who’s been wearing (and talking about wearing) corsets since most of us can remember, showed up on Monday night with a weird cardigan and a startlingly teeny waist. In Vogue’s behind-the-scenes video released Tuesday, Kim can be seen getting laced into the corset that made her look like that. During a fitting, she tells the camera, “I’ll feel so snatched I won’t even be able to communicate to you how snatched I feel.” She added that breathing in the corset is “an art form.”

In case that wasn’t painful enough, Kim also divulged that she was wearing heel-less heels, because Galliano was worried any kind of stiletto would get caught in the lacy pattern of her dress — meaning she had to walk up all those steps on her tiptoes.

This isn’t the first time Kim has been criticized for promoting unhealthy beauty standards. She also dabbled in extreme corseting for the 2019 gala, when she said she had to take “corset breathing lessons” to wear her pearl-coated Thierry Mugler outfit. She later told WSJ magazine, “I have never felt pain like that in my life.”

Whatever critics have to say about her favorite undergarment, Kim shows no signs of stopping. In fact, after the gala, she seems to have changed out of her dress and into an entirely different corset to leave her hotel. Nothing gets between her and a cinch.
