When life gives you Sandovals, make sandwiches? Ariana Madix’s sandwich shop with Katie Maloney is not a scam … as far as we can tell. We’ve known about the physical location in West Hollywood for a while now, but the U.S. Sun reports that Something About Her finally has an official opening date: May 22, 2024. Per the Sun, there will also be soft openings leading up to this grand launch. Afterward, the café is reportedly already scheduled to host a “big WeHo Pride party” from May 31 to June 2. While a date has not been officially confirmed, that does seem in line with Maloney’s recent assurance during an interview that the shop would open “very, very soon.” Something About Her was previously expected to open this January, but faced issues obtaining city permits. That was reportedly the reason why its storefront sign and patio were both taken down. While the building interior is reportedly now ready for business, the sign and patio have yet to be restored. Vulture has reached out to representatives for Vanderpump Rules for comment.
Maloney recently appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’s Teddi Mellencamp and The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Emily Simpson joint podcast, where she revealed that something about Something About Her is different — namely, chef Penny Davidi’s level of involvement. “We’re not working with Penny any longer,” Maloney confirmed. Davidi appeared throughout season 11 of Vanderpump Rules to help with the menu and hiring decisions. Maloney said while they “loved” working with her, “ultimately it wasn’t the right fit.” For the sake of a future spinoff, we imagine Bravo is betting that a Penny-less place isn’t a penniless one.
