Overnight closures on I-65 south of Indiana 2

Lane closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Interstate 65 between Indiana 2 and Indiana 10 through early July. The right driving lane will be closed on the southbound side first, transitioning to the northbound side once the initial work is completed. Construction will include shoulder strengthening and widening in advance of three bridge replacement projects along this stretch of I-65. INDOT urges drivers to stay alert near crews and be prepared to wait for the temporary traffic signal. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time when driving through this area and should slow down and drive distraction-free through all work zones. Ivy Tech Lake County offers Job and Resource Fair

Job seekers are invited to meet with potential employers and learn about hiring opportunities at the Job and Resource Fair from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Arts and Sciences Building at Ivy Tech Community College’s Lake County Campus, 3491 Broadway, Gary. Those attending can learn about job openings at the campus, as well as at a number of top companies in Northwest Indiana. Companies expected to be represented include NorthShore Health Centers, Albanese Confectionery, Ernst and Young LLP, Hard Rock Casino, Horseshoe Casino, Toyota Material Handling, Pepsi, Cintas, Franciscan Health and Modern Forge. The fair is a collaboration between Ivy Tech Lake County and Work One and offers the chance to meet 1:1 with employers who are currently hiring. Ivy Tech’s career coaches will be available to take headshots for job seekers’ LinkedIn profiles, and representatives from HealthVisions Midwest, WorkOne, Purdue University Northwest and Valparaiso University will be on hand to discuss resources available from their organizations. IU Northwest to present ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’

IU Northwest School of the Arts will present a production of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” at the Arts and Sciences Mainstage Theatre on campus, 3400 Broadway, Gary. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and April 12; and at 3 p.m. Saturday and April 13. The cast of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will include a mix of students and community members. IU Northwest students include Gabriel Ashbach; Alexander Eddy; and Dashiana Bingham. Community members include Grant Fitch; Emily Dixon; Brandon Hearn; and Rodney Thornton. Admission is $5 to the general public, and free to IU Northwest students, faculty and staff with a valid ID. Franciscan Health Crown Point to host Safe Kids Day

Children and their families are invited to join in the fun at the free Safe Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dean and Barbara White Southlake YMCA, 100 W. Burrell Drive, Crown Point. Attendees should use the west entrance. The interactive event will include educational booths with information about keeping kids safe and healthy. Families will learn more about bike safety, child passenger safety, stranger danger, dental care, home safety, CPR, first aid, pet safety, medication safety, the Franciscan Health Prenatal Assistance Program, safe sleeping, breastfeeding, water safety and YMCA summer camps. Franciscan Physician Network Pediatric Medicine will also be on hand with an “Ask the Pediatrician” table to address parent questions and concerns. Face painting and balloon twisting will also be available. Attendees will receive an entry for giveaway drawings. Home Show coming to Porter County Expo Center

The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana will host its Annual Home and Remodeling Expo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E Division Road, Valparaiso. The show will feature decks, grills, landscaping, pools, garage doors, roofs, gutters, sunrooms, sheds, paint and decorating, bathrooms, appliances, lighting, security, new homes and lenders to help finance projects. Admission is $5, discount admission with canned items to donate is $2. Family admission is $10, save $5 with food items. Food donations will go to Northwest Indiana Food Bank. Indiana University Northwest will host an Employment and Internship Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12 in the Savannah Center Gymnasium on campus, 3400 Broadway, Gary. The event is free and open to the public. Local Northwest Indiana employers will be present to provide company information, meet with prospective employees, collect applications and, in some cases, interview candidates. Professional opportunities range from internships to part-time and full-time employment. Local businesses and organizations attending the fair include: Adams Radio Group; Albanese Confectionery; Alverno Laboratories; Centier Bank; Community Healthcare System; FBI; Franciscan Health; Horizon Bank; Indiana State Board of Accounts; Indiana State Police; Lake County Parks; Lubeznik Center for the Arts; Methodist Hospitals; Peoples Bank; Porter Starke Services; Strack & VanTil; and Steel Cities Steel. For individuals interested in earning their bachelor’s degree, representatives from the IU Northwest Office of Admissions will be present. Representatives from the following graduate programs also will be available to discuss master-level programs: School of Education, School of Public and Environmental Affairs and School of Business and Economics.
