Former White Sox executive Kenny Williams sells Park Tower condo for $3M

Former Chicago White Sox executive vice president Kenny Williams, who was fired in August after 11 years in the job and another 12 years before that as the team’s general manager, and his wife, former Chicago TV reporter Zoraida Sambolin, on March 29 sold their three-bedroom, 3,228-square-foot condominium on the 29th floor of the Park Tower for $2.8 million.

Williams played for several Major League Baseball teams, including the Sox, for parts of six seasons. After his playing career ended, he joined the team as a scout in 1992 and worked his way up in the front office. Sambolin was an anchor for WMAQ-Channel 5 from 2002 until 2011 and again from 2014 until 2021. She also spent two years with CNN in New York.

In the Park Tower, Williams and Sambolin’s KZ Trust paid $1.85 million in March 2021 to buy the unit from criminal defense attorney Stuart V. Goldberg. Williams and Sambolin gut renovated the condo, which is located in the southeast corner of the building. Features include 2-1/2 bathrooms, an open floor plan, hardwood floors, skyline and lake views, and a kitchen with stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry and a large counter.

The couple first listed the condo in September for $2.95 million. They cut their asking price to $2.795 million in February.

Listing agent Philip Skowron told Elite Street that the condo was “thoughtfully designed and completely remodeled, to the studs.” He declined to comment on why the couple sold or where they are headed.

The condo had a $55,288 property tax bill in the 2022 tax year.

The buyers are not yet identified in public records. Margaret Baczkowski of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, who represented the buyers, declined to identify their identities but said the condo is “beautifully appointed throughout and sun-filled. (It’s a) gorgeous condo.”

Williams and Sambolin previously owned numerous other homes in Chicago, southwest Michigan and Arizona. In late 2020, they sold their five-bedroom, 8,098-square-foot vintage mansion on the Gold Coast for $4.8 million to Lettuce Entertain You President R.J. Melman and his wife, Katherine, who recently listed that mansion for just under $5 million and now have a contract to sell it. In 2019, Williams and Sambolin sold their three-bedroom, 3,864-square-foot town home on North Water Street in Streeterville for $2.325 million. In Michigan, the couple sold their five-bedroom, 7,265-square-foot mansion on Lake Michigan in 2020 for $2.65 million. And in 2020, Williams and Sambolin paid $2.7 million for a five-bedroom, 6,913-square-foot mansion in Phoenix.
