One man dead, one injured in South Shore shooting, police say


One man is dead and another injured after a Saturday evening shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

Police said an unknown gunman shot a 23-year-old man and a 38-year-old man at about 5:05 p.m. while they were in a parking lot in the 1500 block of East 75th Street.

The older man was shot in the chest and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died. The 23-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to both legs. He was also transported to the University of Chicago, in critical condition. 

Police said no suspects are in custody, and detectives are investigating the shooting.
