Telehealth unicorn inks Madison Avenue lease

The virtual health care firm Thirty Madison has inked an office lease on, appropriately enough, Madison Avenue.

The company has signed a two-year lease for 15,440 square feet at 183 Madison Ave., located between East 33rd and East 34th streets in Midtown South, according to landlord APF Properties. Asking rents at the 19-story office building range from $48 to $58 per square foot, according to the commercial real estate database CoStar, for an approximate annual cost of $818,320.

A representative for Thirty Madison did not respond to a request for comment by press time.

Thirty Madison was founded in 2016 and provides telehealth services for chronic conditions. It has four brands: Keeps, which focuses on treating men’s hair loss, Cove, which focuses on treating migraines, Nurx, which focuses on sexual and reproductive health, and Face, which focuses on treating eczema and psoriasis. The company announced in late 2021 that it would open its first brick-and-mortar location for its Keeps brand in Midtown.

The health care firm, led by CEO and co-founder Steven Gutentag, claims to care for more than 900,000 patients. It had reached a $1 billion private valuation as of late 2021 and is thus considered a unicorn startup.

The office tower at 183 Madison Ave., known as the Madison Belmont Building, spans 280,000 square feet and is 88.2% leased overall, according to CoStar. Midtown-based APF Properties purchased it in 2018 for about $220 million, property records show.
