Just two weeks after former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City castmate Monica Garcia revealed she was pregnant, the reality star shared a “heartbreaking” update that she suffered a miscarriage. In a Sunday Instagram post accompanied by two black-and-white hospital photos, the 39-year-old wrote, “One thing I promised myself when opening my life up to all of you was that I was going to do it completely unapologetically and authentically raw as possible … Unfortunately, today I need to share a very heartbreaking aspect.”
“‘There is no heartbeat.’ I don’t have many words and I’m still processing all of this myself,” she continued. “As quickly as this happened, that’s how quickly things have changed.”

Per Us Weekly, Garcia had initially shared the news of her pregnancy on an episode of The Viall Files podcast in early April. When asked what she had going on in the wake of her explosive one-season stint on the Bravo series, the former Housewife announced she was seven weeks pregnant, adding “I literally just found out … I have not told one fucking person except for my best friend.” During the podcast recording, Garcia also mentioned that not only was she not trying to get pregnant — she shares four kids with ex-husband Mike Fowler — but that she found out she was pregnant during a “totally unrelated” urgent care visit. Considering her age and the fact that she’d been on birth control, Garcia admitted she “should not be pregnant.” When pressed, she revealed the father-to-be was a man named Braxton who she’d been dating for a year.
Garcia concluded her Sunday post by sending love to all those experiencing “miscarriages, fertility issues, pregnancy problems, if you have an angel baby, and everything in-between,” thanking her doctors and support system for taking care of her throughout the process. “I love you and I’m so thankful for you,” she wrote.
