An apparent appliance fire caused over $100,000 in damage to a St. Charles home on Tuesday morning, fire department officials said.

Firefighters responded to the fire, which was at a home in the 3400 block of Royal Fox Drive, at around 10:20 a.m., according to a news release from the St. Charles Fire Department. Officials said in the release that responding firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the second-floor windows and eaves of the home.

The owners were home at the time of the fire but were able to escape the burning house before firefighters arrived, the release said.

The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes of firefighters arriving, officials said.
