Mayor Adams Announces Record Years for Creating Affordable Housing in New York

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced that for the second consecutive year, the city has achieved record-breaking results in creating and connecting New Yorkers to new, affordable housing. In Fiscal Year 2024, the city financed 28,944 affordable and public housing units through new construction and preservation initiatives.

The Adams administration also moved a record number of homeless New Yorkers into permanent housing through the CityFHEPS program and other affordable housing initiatives. This includes the conversion of 3,678 New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) apartments into newly renovated residences.

Mayor Adams emphasized that these successes are the result of collaborative efforts by numerous city agencies and that the efforts will continue with the goal of creating over 108,000 new homes in the next 15 years.
