Being married to someone as famous as Jennifer Lopez seems like it would be really hard, and thanks to recent reports that their relationship is in crisis, people are extra curious to know if that’s true. Ben Affleck has basically confirmed that it is — albeit in a talk-show appearance filmed before their reported marital strife. You might think that Affleck is as famous as his wife — and that might be true in Boston — but in New York, she causes quite the scene. Affleck appeared on Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show (?) Hart to Heart for its fourth-season (??) premiere and opened up about how wild it is to be married to a superstar.

“We went somewhere with Jen — I can’t remember because she’s so famous — and she creates this … people love her, and she really represents something important to people,” Affleck told Hart. The actor explained that the reactions he gets on the street are slightly different than what his wife gets.

“[To me,] people are like, ‘Hey, I like your movie,’ and then they’re like ‘Aaaaahhh! J.Lo!’” he said, yelling for effect. “It’s amazing, you know what I mean?” He proceeded to tell a story about him, Lopez, and their five children driving through Times Square on the way to a Broadway show and having to get out and walk because they were going to be late.

“We get out with her, all the kids, through Times Square, and the shit was, like, fuckin’ bananas,” Affleck recalled, having noted that Lopez was totally cool with having to get out of the car. “I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ There was a lady, she was smoking weed in a full purple skintight suit — she’s a heavy lady — and she starts running backward filming, going ‘J.Lo!’ Like a herald.”

“Then I’m moving. We got, like, our five kids, me and Jen, and it’s like, it feels like hundreds of people, and they’re all screaming,” Affleck explained. “That’s when I put my bitch face on.”

Earlier in the episode, Affleck told Hart that his infamous sourpuss is not because he’s constantly in a bad mood; he just doesn’t like being photographed.

“I’m also a little bit shy,” he said. “I also don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why’s this dude always mad?’ Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go.’” When Hart referred to it as “resting bitch face,” Affleck corrected him, calling it “resting hard face.”

Presumably, this was filmed months ago, before Bennifer’s marriage reportedly hit rough waters. But it’s nice to see Affleck animatedly talking about Lopez and how important she is to other people. I doubt she’ll see it, given that she’s busy Eat, Pray, Love–ing in Italy right now, but maybe it’s the thought that counts?
