Rats! Guess there won’t be anyone pulling Josh O’Connor’s hair as Linguini— he’ll just have to find another way to be a great chef on screen. When asked by TIME if Pixar has ever considered doing a live-action version of Ratatouille, Pete Docter explained while being interviewed about Inside Out 2 that he isn’t a fan of the idea of remakes: “This might bite me in the butt for saying it, but it sort of bothers me. I like making movies that are original and unique to themselves. To remake it, it’s not very interesting to me personally.” An interest in a live-action version began brewing during the Challengers press tour when O’Connor couldn’t stop talking about Remy and his big dreams of cooking at Gusteau’s. “I love Ratatouille,” he told Letterboxd several times over the past few years. Maybe it’s time to revive the musical version.
