A man from Oakland, California, faces three felony charges related to a stabbing attack that left a 71-year-old woman in critical condition Wednesday afternoon near Union Station in West Loop, police said.
cq comment=”accused” ] Wilson Barreno, 25, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery toward an elderly person with a deadly weapon, according to an announcement Thursday evening.
Police said they arrested Barreno in the 500 block of West Tilden Street, shortly after he allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times in the 200 block of South Canal Street about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A detention hearing is set for Friday.
