Kourtney Kardashian is continuing to speak candidly about the challenges of pregnancy and postpartum life. On Monday, Kardashian revealed on her Instagram Stories that she went through five failed rounds of in vitro fertilization before conceiving her son Rocky with Travis Barker.

After a follower who went through six failed IVF attempts asked Kardashian, 45, how she was able to “find the strength” to keep trying, Kardashian responded, “I stopped after a year of trying (5 failed IVF cycles, 3 retrievals) my body relaxed and I believed in God’s plan for my life.” Per People, Kardashian said she did a lot of praying and “optimizing” of her health, though she didn’t specify in which ways: “I know how hard it is to feel like you’re not trying, but believing in God’s plan and saying your prayers is so powerful. All the best!” Kardashian added that she eventually “got pregnant 100% naturally, NOT through IVF … one year after stopping IVF actually. Through God’s blessing on Valentine’s Day.”

In September, Kardashian revealed that she had undergone urgent fetal surgery to save her unborn baby’s life. In November, she and Barker welcomed Rocky, their first child together (they each have three other children from past relationships). In April, she addressed “new mommies” in an Instagram Story caption about women’s bodies changing during and after pregnancy, writing, “The pressure put on us to bounce back when everything is new and different isn’t realistic. Life is beautiful, you are beautiful.”
