This Bar Smells Like Byredo

[ad_1]

Earlier this week, Byredo celebrated ten years of Mojave Ghost — its cult-favorite woody scent that makes you smell well … rich — alongside New York Magazine at Ignacio Mattos’s downtown restaurant, Estela. Ahead of Frieze New York, guests like Rachel Comey, Cynthia Rowley, Pierce Abernathy, Candace Bushnell, Amy Sedaris, Mickey Boardman, Laila Gohar, Britt Lower, Rudy Gay, John Derian, Tefi Pessoa, and Vashtie Kola embraced the scent and celebrated the occasion with mushroom crostinis and bites of trout.

Inside, along Estela’s narrow bar (which the manager told me had been booked up every single night that week), there were people lined up to get a boozy halo spritz. Outside, someone stopped the Cut’s editor-in-chief, Lindsay Peoples, at the door to tell her she looked pretty (she did) and ask if the party was any fun (it was.) It’s not every day that a party is held at one of New York City’s hardest-to-get-into restaurants, so naturally partygoers rotated between the delicious little bites of ricotta dumplings and something containing a lot of squid ink (which I would not recommend if you are wearing light pink like I was). LVMH finalist Julian Louie revealed he’s working on a red jacket that’s taking upwards of 30 hours (for the Met, maybe?). And TikTok’s darling Tefi shared that she got her best friend, an ICU nurse, to show up for the promise of a free fragrance. (Mojave Ghost is worth sneaking into a party for, and she managed to snag the last one.) Below is a peek from inside the event.
