If you have a list in your phone of all the people you’ve slept with, you and Drew Barrymore have something in common. On Wednesday, Barrymore was joined on her talk show by CBS Mornings correspondents Tony Dokoupil, Nate Burleson, and Vladimir Duthiers to break down some headlines (Barrymore’s sidekick, Ross Mathews, was also there). They were discussing a report from The Independent that claimed millennial women are keeping lists of their sexual partners on their phone. Barrymore quickly fessed up to having done this the old-fashioned way.
“It was back in the day. I did it with paper and pen. I’m the most disorganized person, I lose everything,” Barrymore said. “I left it at someone’s house.” The actress went on to explain that she was producing a film that Danny DeVito was directing — 2003’s Duplex, if you’re curious — and that she wrote her list on the back of her notes for the movie. When she left the notes at DeVito’s house, she left her sex list, too.
For us gossip junkies, this story will certainly bring to mind Lindsay Lohan’s leaked sex list, which she later revealed was part of her treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic. Fortunately for Barrymore, no one ever found her list and sold it to a tabloid — like Lohan, hers included full names. In fact, it seems like no one else ever saw the list at all.
Last year, DeVito was a guest, and she took the opportunity to come clean to him. However, he had no clue what she was talking about. “I never saw it. Your secret’s safe with me,” he said. I’m sure that was a relief for Barrymore, but all of you should take it as a reminder not to write your sex lists on paper you’re going to bring to your co-worker’s house. Use a locked note on your phone like the rest of us.
